Join us for an unforgettable journey into the heart of music creation! Crescendo Fest presents an exclusive series of dynamic masterclasses focusing on songwriting and production, tailored for performing artists, songwriters, musicians, and music producers/engineers. We will dive deep into the art of crafting unforgettable melodies, thought-provoking lyrics, and innovative beats. Our expert-led sessions will empower you to unleash your full creative potential and refine your skills to new heights. 

Production Session:

Lord Quest 

LordQuest is a Grammy nominated record producer and songwriter from Toronto, Canada. He co-produced 2Chainz “Vlad TV”, and has worked with the likes of Kelly Rowland “The Kelly Rowland Edition EP”, Jordin Sparks “Unknown” & “Red Sangria”, Juice Wrld “Run”, Schoolboy Q”Blind Threats”, SiR “Thats Why I Love You”(feat Sabrina Claudio) and Arin Ray “F*ck Ya’ll & Zzz”. His discography inclusive of Isaiah Rashad, Bosco, G-Unit, Alex Aiono, Jozzy, Joyner Lucas, Dom Kennedy, etc is ever growing.  

Segun Akin

Segun Akinbobola is a forward-thinking music industry professional known for his innovative approach to artist development and strategic guidance. He is founder and CEO of SoundDecisions Ltd, a management company dedicated to guiding artists through the complexities of the modern music industry. Among the notable names on SoundDecisions Ltd’s roster are award-winning artist Ryan Ofei, and emerging talents AP and SAO!.

Steven Dingle

Steven is the VP of Programming at United Masters. Based in Georgia, he is also an entertainment manager and founder of Stay Lowe Entertainment.  He represents both United Masters and management clients in the music industry. 

United Master is a new industry alternative for independent artists.  They provide premium music distribution services and facilitate unique partnerships between artists and the world’s biggest brands. United Masters enables artists to maintain full ownership over their master recording rights while introducing them to millions of new fans worldwide through our direct brand partnerships.  They strive to enable artists to maximize their creative and economic potential by giving them all the tools and support they need to directly connect with their fans.

Ricardo Chung 

With an ear and a knack for spotting and developing talent, Ricardo Chung’s path into the music industry has been rich in experience thriving in the management realm. After graduating from the Remix Project’s Business Program. Ricardo got his first chance in the music industry scoring an internship with Raekwon’s independent label ICE H20 Records. From there, Ricardo started working for the company Last Gang Entertainment, managing the artist/producer Tre Mission. He then went on to form his own management company Ransom Management Group, managing acts like Sean Leon & Julian Thomas.  He then gained touring experience working as Baka Not Nice’s road manager on the “Assassination Vacation” Tour with Drake. Ricardo has now joined the Warner Chappell Music team as an A&R. He continues to be a key ally in the Canadian music industry.

Reeny 

For singer, songwriter, and producer Reeny Smith, when you strip everything else away, the very heart of her sound is the relationship between her and the piano. A connection Smith has nurtured since she was just five years old, spurred on by a profoundly musical family.

Recently, her music has been heard in TV shows like CBC’s Diggstown (“Goodbye,” “#4”), Amazon’s The Lake (“The Warmup”), and Hudson & Rex (“Lovers Like You,” “You Got It”). Fresh off a national tour with Classified, she has also travelled to Japan to write and cut songs with artists like J. Sheon, FEMM (Avex), and XPXP. And she’s shared the stage with Grammy Award-winning artists like Anderson Paak and Lisa Fischer and performed at Manifesto and A3C Festival.

Katrina Lopes 

Katrina Lopes is the president of KL Management. Long-time manager to platinum-selling, Juno Award winning artist/producer Shawn Desman, her current roster includes pop duo and production team RadioClub, R&B singer/songwriter/producer Reeny, and top 10 Billboard singer/songwriter/producer Kayla Diamond.  

Katrina's extensive experience includes KL also serves on the board for: Manifesto, a youth arts organization that creates space that inspires, develops, and amplifies diverse communities through arts, culture and media; Music Managers Forum Canada (MMF); is a mentor with Femme it Forward, a female-led music and entertainment company and joint venture with Live Nation that celebrates, educates and empowers the industry’s most creative and accomplished female visionaries; Shesaid.so a global community of women and gender minorities in music; Diverse Voices (Music PEI); Black Artists Mentorship Program (Music PEI) and runs her own KL Management Black Mentorship Program(s). She teaches Music Industry classes through The Forgiveness Project to young men in custody. She was an innovator with Keychange (2020/21), a global network working towards a total restructure of the music industry in reaching full gender equality. 

She was also named an honouree on the global “Alternative Power 100 Music List 2020”, received the ANSMA Industry Development Award 2023, Women in Music Honours Award in Career Achievement 2023, and was nominated for Music Nova Scotia’s Artist Development Award 2023.

PLAYBACK Session 

August 2nd - 2 Pm

Sessions will kick off concurrently, allowing participants to immerse themselves in their chosen area of focus. Then, join forces with fellow creators and industry professionals for a unique feedback exchange. Producers showcase beats, while songwriters unveil their latest compositions, receiving invaluable insights and constructive critique. 

The goal of these sessions is to forge meaningful connections within a vibrant community of like-minded individuals passionate about music. Attendees will receive personalized attention and ample opportunity to network with peers and mentors.

Export: The

Bigger Picture

In this session, we will explore the opportunities for exporting your music through creative collaboration, whether you're an artist, songwriter, or producer. Gain first-hand insights on how our panelists have successfully expanded their networks and careers by working creatively with others.

This Export session will feature in-depth discussions and extensive Q&A on strategies for exporting your music beyond the East Coast of Canada. Topics will include live performance, label and distribution channels, and effective management practices.

Richard Dunn 

Richard Dunn’s impact on the music and entertainment industry is one that cannot be underrated. For over 20 years Dunn has expertly crafted himself as a force and mogul.  By combining his creativity and business expertise, his curriculum vitae is one that rivals the best in the industry.  In 1998, Dunn co-founded Groovement Inc., an artist management and event production company that focused on the soul scene. Groovement served as a resident promotion arm for the Ying Yang Café, as well as the launching pad for the career of four-time Grammy winning vocalist India Arie. Riding off the success of his first attempt at artist management, he then partnered with Michael McQuary (co-founder of Mindspring) to start Brash Music in 2004.  Brash Music served as an indie label whose roster included the likes of ColdPlay, PJ Morton, Aaron Shust and Anthony David. Two years later, Dunn and his partners teamed up to revitalize the historic Underground Atlanta by opening a live music venue Sugarhill and Club Motion.

Today he serves as the COO of The Atlanta Voice Newspaper, one of Atlanta’s oldest African-American newspapers founded by his grandfather J.Lowell Ware in 1966.  His business savvy and affiliations has positioned him to serve on multiple boards and partner with notable institutions. Richard also serves as a Professor at Georgia State University where he teaches Touring and Concert Management. His accomplishments in entertainment continue as he most recently served as Film/TV & Brand Sync A&R for United Masters. Richard Dunn chooses to measure success by his own standards. Over the years, he’s grown to appreciate the value of longevity, relevance, and the respect of his peers in such a widely competitive industry.

Keziah Myers

Keziah Myers believes in the skills and uniqueness of this country and knows that there is so much talent yet to be discovered. Currently as the Executive Director of ADVANCE – Canada’s Black Music Business Collective, Keziah’s main role is to advocate for the betterment, upliftment, and retention of Black Talent within the music industry. Leading this organization, Keziah focuses on changing processes, creating opportunities, and providing resources to ADVANCE members, and music industry organizations. Prior to ADVANCE, Keziah led music licensing initiatives at Entandem, and the A&R Operations at SOCAN, where she was instrumental in ensuring diverse hiring, updating internal systems, improving operations, and enabling all offices to better serve 150 000 members. Beyond this, Keziah has held positions in Label Operations Management and Publicity. She has also sat on Entertainment & Music Organization Boards, adjudicated as part of FACTOR and JUNO juries, and is a regular guest presenter for Art-Focused programs, colleges, universities and high schools.

As a part of a major music movement in Canada, Keziah has taken opportunities to stay involved, advise, volunteer, educate, and advocate. Her passion for people has afforded her the opportunity to be able to live on 3 continents and travel to over 30 countries. Keziah has worked with countless artists and music creators. Along the way she has worked with Drake, Maroon 5, Kim Davis, DSVN, Boi 1da, and many more.

Dr. Kreative

Malakhi RL Eason II the Chief Executive Officer of Eason Kreative Agency brings more than 15 years of arts administration experience to the Festival. Originally from Boston, Eason was most recently Programming Manager at Omaha Performing Arts, where he curated the expansive Jazz on the Green Series, ranging from intimate cabaret performances to outdoor concerts featuring artists like Ladama, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Kim Waters, Sammy Miller and the Congregation, and Marcos y Sabor. Eason was formerly a background singer for touring artists while living in Los Angeles, CA.

A graduate of University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, CT, Eason earned a Masters of Arts in Leadership from Grace University and is working on a Doctorate in Interdisciplinary Leadership from Creighton University, Eason has also served in many positions that convey his passion for service and youth mentorship; he encourages young people to find their passions.

Eason is an active member of numerous organizations, including the Lincoln, NE, Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc; Lambda Pi Eta (National Honors Society); and the NAACP.
